Narrative Design / Writing Highlights

Meaningful characters
As both a story writer and narrative designer, I contributed to the creation of strong characters with unique storylines and meaningful development arcs. This work led to the design of a companion system aimed at deepening the player’s connection with NPCs.
The system encouraged players to build relationships through dialogue options and impactful moral choices. Its original vision included unique side quests for each companion, where players would help them confront their past or personal traumas. Completion of these quests was also tied to ensuring the companion’s survival.
Although these side quests were cut midway through production to meet shipping deadlines, the companion system remained in a streamlined form, still allowing players to engage meaningfully with their allies.

Exploring the Madness
The main challenge of writing within H.P. Lovecraft’s universe was to capture his vision of creeping insanity and how characters respond when confronted with the "Truth".
From a design perspective, we gave players the option to pursue forbidden Ancient knowledge as part of the RPG experience but always at the cost of their sanity, their most vital resource.
By sacrificing sanity, players could unlock exclusive dialogue choices, perceive hidden truths, or even stare directly at Mythos creatures such as the Dimensional Shambler to track their movements. However, gaining this knowledge risked driving them into complete madness, shaping both their journey and the game’s ending.
In the end, it was always the player’s decision: embrace knowledge and risk insanity, or preserve sanity and face the unknown in ignorance.
