LEAD NARRATIVE DESIGNER

I oversaw the creation of narrative design processes and pipelines, ensuring story consistency across mission design and post-launch content. I managed a team of up to seven narrative designers across two studios.

In addition to this leadership role, I personally designed half of the main campaign missions.

Act 3 - Madera

I was in charge of the narrative design for Act 3 of the main campaign.


This included developing a complex character arc for Paula Madera, where the player acts as a catalyst for her transformation. From being manipulated and used by others to finally taking control of her own destiny and choosing to help Nomad, the player’s character.

After being rescued by Nomad, Paula is initially reluctant to help stop the drones. She believes her former boss, Jace Skell, exploited her, and she finds comfort hiding among the Outcasts, who seem to offer her new allies.

Over the course of the missions, the player uncovers evidence that Skell had been trying to cure Paula’s husband, while also exposing the Outcasts’ betrayal when they use her energy cell as a bomb in a terrorist attack. Faced with this truth, Paula makes a conscious decision to leave the Outcasts and join Nomad and Skell in stopping the drones.

With full awareness of the situation, Paula achieves her transformation and chooses of her own free will to fight alongside Nomad.

Act 4

I was in charge of the narrative design for Act 4 of the main campaign.


In this final act, the story centered on Nomad’s confrontation with his former comrades and friends: Josiah Hill and Cole D. Walker, leader of the Wolves.

The player uncovers the identity of the mole who had been secretly aiding them, confronts old acquaintances, and works to thwart Walker’s plan in a series of intense, action-packed missions that culminate in a boss fight against Walker and his drones.

 

The campaign concludes on a bittersweet note: Nomad is forced to kill his former friend to stop the threat, yet the drone swarm still prevents escape from the island. Meanwhile, Walker’s accomplice, Trey Stone, remains at large, hinting at future post-game content.
